A Message from the Principal
Mr Neil Schreuder | Gill College
Welcome to Gill College, a school where tradition, opportunity and a strong sense of belonging come together to shape the future of every learner.
It is a privilege to lead a school with such a proud history and a community that continues to believe in the potential of its young people. Since joining Gill College in May 2026, I have been reminded time and again that a school is about far more than classrooms, textbooks and examinations. It is about people, relationships, character and the values that guide us long after we leave its gates.
At Gill College, we strive to create an environment where every learner is encouraged to discover their strengths, embrace opportunities and grow into a responsible, confident individual. We believe in academic excellence, sporting achievement, cultural involvement and the importance of developing young people who understand the value of respect, perseverance and accountability.
Our motto, Sursum Prorsusque, reflects the spirit in which we approach every new day. We honour the traditions that have shaped Gill College while continuously looking for ways to improve, grow and prepare our learners for an ever-changing world. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our teachers and staff, the support of our parents, the involvement of our broader community and, most importantly, the enthusiasm and determination of our learners.
Thank you for being part of the Gill family and for contributing to the spirit that makes this school so special. As we look to the future, may we continue to build a school where every learner feels valued, every opportunity is embraced and every achievement is celebrated.
At Gill College, we are more than a school. We are a family, a legacy and a community moving forward together.
This is Home.
Sursum Prorsusque!

WHO WE ARE / WIE ONS IS
Gill College was founded in 1869 as a university and the beautiful architecture was based on that of the University of Glasgow. The school’s namesake, Dr William Gill who was District Surgeon of Somerset East, passed away in 1863 and left the value of his estate for the establishment of a college of higher education. In 1903, a change in educational regulation caused Gill College to become a high school. Between 1928 and 1965 Gill College was a school just for boys.
